Revelations and Travel

December 27th, 2006

I’m at my sister’s apartment cause we just road-tripped to Austin. It’s generally a four-hour drive, but of course my sister managed it in just under three.

The timing isn’t the greatest – everyone’s finally back from college and getting together. We went to Olive Garden tonight and then bowling (I had to leave early). During this time, I discovered the following:

  1. Hemal’s family moved to Virgina – What the hell? When did this happen?
  2. Thomas has been in Argentina for a semester. How did I not know this?
  3. Nate, our wonderful Chindian, has been in Beijing and is going back to finish off this academic year. Seriously!?

Clearly, I missed a lot by being AWOL in Atlanta over the summer. Boo. At any rate, it was good to see Bo and Khang (dude, where have you been the past three years?) again. Kasey and Cathy both look great. :D Bo claims that his university’s mascot is the color green. I am appalled to discover that this is at least partially true (Dartmouth’s unofficial mascot, says Google).

Oh, and I saved the best part of this post for last. When my sister and I went to Walmart, we ran into my friend’s mom. Apparently, Kassi’s having her second child. Rosie is adorable so I’m sure this one will be a blessing, too. Fun!

Post-Christmas

December 26th, 2006

Merry – day after – Christmas! I spent the majority of the holiday coding while watching A Very Long Engagment and All the Kings’ Men. (Both solid movies, in case you’re wondering.) My sister and I just made Apple and Brie sandwiches which were delicious. If you want to try it, here’s the recipe:

Apples and Brie Sandwich

Ingredients

  • Two (2) slices of bread, toasted
  • One (1) Apple, sliced
  • Brie, roughly 1/4 inch slices (don’t use any other type of cheese)
  • Blackberry Jam (other jams/preserves may work as well)

Instructions

After the bread has been toasted, spread the jam on one slice of bread and place the brie on the other slice. Place the apple slices on the bread with the brie. Microwave that slice for about 25 seconds. Put the two halves together and finito – an apples and brie sandwich! Hooray!

Very yummy and very unhealthy. Anyhow, I’m off to Austin tomorrow with my sister for just a few days. Pictures of the holiday festivities incoming.
